Join our Pillowcase Project for the Military Troops!
The DAR Council Bluffs Chapter is sewing and sending pillowcases to our deployed military troops. Our goal is for these brave soldiers to receive some appreciation from home, thanking them for the sacrifices they are making for our country. We will send other items from their "wish list" too.
We welcome individuals or sewing groups who'd like to make pillowcases for our military troops.
You can send new, 100% cotton fabric or cotton blends for pillowcases

A unit stationed in the desert of Niger have been selected to be the recipients of our next shipment of pillowcases. These brave soldiers are spending a year away from home, and they deserve a few comforts as a small token of our thanks for the sacrifices they are making for us and their country.
As you complete your pillowcases, you might consider attaching a short note, with your email address, so they can get a chance to thank you!
Other items from their "wish list" that we hope to be sending to them include:
Body wash/luffas; Sunglasses w/black frames (dust storms wreak havoc on sunglasses); Protein bars/powder; snacks (crackers and jerky); powdered drink mixes; Flip flops/shower shoes; Sunscreen; Sunflower seeds; Lotion/moisturizer.
If you have a military unit you'd like to nominate to be our next recipients from our DAR Pillowcase Project, send us an email!
All sewing groups and individuals are welcome to help. Every season, we will select a deployed group to be the recipients of some awesome pillowcases -- a little bit of home! We will package the pillowcases and send them to the troops. This season, we will be sending pillowcases to Air Force and Army Rangers who are deployed in the Sahara Desert for a year.
Your support and contributions will enable us to meet our goals and of providing a little piece of home and thanks for the our military troops' service. Your generous donation will help fund our mission.
